On a chilly December day in Union Square, NYC, this yoga series was born. My studies of yoga, Chinese Brushstroke and watercolor spontaneously merged as I was painting in the park. I try to capture the stillness and movement of hatha yoga through line and empty space. Each piece begins with the Chinese brush and ink. Because there are no preliminary sketches, sometimes a pose is painted again and again until the “lines arrive.” I later return to add watercolor, allowing the character to inform which colors are chosen and how the paint will flow.
